How to buy hearing aids online without guesswork

Buying hearing aids online saves most people thousands of dollars, and the process is far simpler than it looks from the outside. Here is the whole journey, step by step, and the few places where it pays to be careful.

Start with a hearing test result

Every prescription hearing aid is programmed to your specific hearing loss, so the fitting starts with an audiogram — the chart a hearing test produces. If you have had a test in the last two years, ask the clinic to email you a copy; it is your record and they must provide it.

No recent test? Take our free online screening, or book one locally. Either way, you send us the result and we do the programming before the box ships.

Pick a style before you pick a model

Receiver-in-canal aids suit most mild to severe losses and hide well behind the ear. In-the-ear and completely-in-canal models are more discreet but have smaller batteries and fewer streaming features. Behind-the-ear models handle the strongest amplification.

Once the style is settled, comparing models is mostly a question of how much automatic noise handling and streaming you want.

How remote programming works

We load your prescription into the aids before shipping, so they work the moment you put them in. After a week of real-world wear, we adjust them again over the phone or through the manufacturer's app — no appointment, no travel.

Most people need two or three small adjustments in the first month, then very few after that.

Questions worth asking any online seller

Are these genuine manufacturer units with the full factory warranty? Is programming to my audiogram included? What is the trial period and who pays return shipping? Is there a real person to call when something goes wrong?

If any answer is vague, keep looking. Ours: yes, yes, 60 days with free returns both ways, and a phone number answered by people who fit hearing aids for a living.

Still deciding?

Tell us about your hearing and we'll recommend two or three models that fit — no pressure, no jargon.
